Codex discusses key food labelling policies
The 45th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Labelling (CCFL) is taking place this week, 13-17 May, in Ottawa with an agenda full of items impacting the labelling of food and beverages worldwide.
Among the key issues for discussion, the following topics receive special attention:
- Consideration of labelling provisions in draft Codex Standards for endorsement
- Proposed draft Guidance for the Labelling of Non-Retail Containers
- Proposed draft Guidelines on Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labelling
- Discussion paper on Internet sales / e-commerce

- Discussion paper on Innovation and Use of Technology in food labelling
- Discussion paper on the Labelling of Alcoholic Beverages
- Discussion paper on the criteria for the definition of “high in” nutritional descriptors for fats, sugars and sodium
