Codex Commission to discuss key food standards in Geneva
The 42nd Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC42) is meeting this week, 8-12 July, in Geneva to address key issues impacting the food and beverages sector.
The CAC is considering the adoption of draft standards and guidelines and start new work on cereals, pulses and legumes, spices and culinary herbs, nutrition and foods for special dietary uses, fats and oils, contaminants, pesticide residues, food additives, methods of analysis and sampling, food labelling, food hygiene and food import and exports inspection and certification systems.
Furthermore, CAC42 is addressing also key policy issues related to the work of Codex based on scientific evidence and consensus and the collaboration with other intergovernmental organisations on common areas, among other items. In this regard, a new Codex Strategic Plan 2020-2025 is presented for adoption.
