Codex to discuss Front of Pack Labelling for Food and Beverages
The Codex Committee on Food Labelling (CCFL) will meet next month (16-20 October) in Asunción, Paraguay to discuss a number of key issues for the food and beverages sector.
On the one hand, the CCFL will continue the discussions on the development and revision of the Guidance for the Labelling of Non-Retail Containers and the General Standard for the Labelling of Prepackaged Foods to accommodate Date Marking, respectively.
However, on the other hand, the CCFL agenda includes the consideration of the future work of this Committee on a number of significant issues for the labelling of food and beverages. These include discussion papers with proposals to work on consumer preference claims, alcoholic beverages labelling, front of pack labelling, advertising, nutrition labelling, criteria for the definition of “high in” nutritional descriptors for fat, sugar and sodium, internet sales or e-commerce, among others.
