Codex to discuss the draft Standard for Fish Oils
The Codex Committee on Fats and Oils (CCFO) will meet from 27 February to 3 March in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the further development and revision of the following standards:
- Proposed draft Standard for Fish Oils
- Revision to the Standard for Olive Oils and Olive Pomace Oils
- Revision to the Standard for Named Vegetable Oils
- Discussion paper for the revision of the Standard for Named Animal Fats
The discussion on the proposed draft Standard for Fish Oils is at the top of the agenda of the CCFO meeting, which will also consider the Report and recommendations of the Physical Working Group on Fish Oils meeting that will be held on 25 February. One of the key characteristics of the proposed draft Standard for Fish Oils, which would apply to the use of fish oils in food and food supplements, is that it includes five named fish oils (anchovy oil, krill oil, menhaden oil, salmon oil, tuna oil) and one named fish liver oil (cod liver oil).
